Stolen Vehicle Crashed Through Car Dealer, Cyclist Injured At Intersection

Police are looking for the driver of a stolen vehicle after it was abandoned at a car dealership after crashing into other cars there, and a cyclist was hit by a vehicle near an intersection in Dartmouth.

Two vehicles were observed racing on Windmill Rd at Akerly Blvd. A check of the area located a stolen motor vehicle(Chrysler Sebring) which had crashed into a bus shelter, two light standards and 4 vehicles at the Fairley and Steven car dealership. There was extensive damage to the recovered stolen motor vehicle but the driver could not be located. A K9 search did not locate the driver. Ground Search and Rescue was called out to assist as there were concerns that the driver could be in the area and seriously injured.  The search was concluded at 4:30pm. No one was located.

11:46am Portland St at Hawthorne St, Dartmouth

A 52 year old male was riding his bicycle west bound on Portland St towards the downtown area of Dartmouth.  A vehicle was making a left hand turn onto Portland from Hawthorne and struck the cyclist. The cyclist was taken to the QEII with serious but non life threatening injuries. Charges under the Motor Vehicle act are still under investigation.
