Victoria County RCMP have located overdue snowmobilers in the Cape Breton Highlands.

Preliminary investigation revealed that both snowmobilers had accidentally flipped their snowmobiles. At approximately 1:30 p.m., one of the riders walked out to a Department of Natural Resources (DNR) officer in the Cheticamp area.

The other snowmobiler was held up in a cabin due to injuries. The DNR helicopter attended the cabin to retrieve the man who was later taken to the local Cheticamp hospital for assessment. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.

The RCMP thank DNR and volunteers from Baddeck and Halifax Fire Department as well as the general public for their assistance in the search.
