Weapons Complaint Results in Charges

 

Release:
A man and woman face charges after Halifax Regional Police responded to
a weapons related complaint yesterday morning in Halifax.
 
At 8:45 a.m., police responded to the 5500 block of Charles Street in
relation to an agitated man in possession of some shotgun shells.
Officers arrived and checked the address in question but the man was not
there. He was located a short distance away at approximately 9:30 a.m.
and arrested. Investigators conducted a search of the residence at 4:10
p.m. and seized a firearm, ammunition and a machete. At 8 p.m., a woman
connected to the incident was arrested in the area of Charles and
Creighton Streets without incident.
 
Thirty-four-year-old James Joseph Marriott and a 25-year-old woman,
both of Halifax, each face the following weapons related charges:
 
S. 86(2) CC – Unsafe Storage Contrary to Regulations
S. 88 CC – Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
S. 92(1) CC – Possession of a Firearm Knowing it is Unauthorized
 
Marriott faces an additional charge of possession of a weapon contrary
to a weapons prohibition order and is scheduled to appear in Halifax
Provincial Court today. The woman is scheduled to appear in the same
court on October 27.
