Witness Scares Off Purse Snatcher

At approximately 6:30 P.M. a 50 year old female was walking on Gristmill Court near Chadwick Place in Halifax.

As she was walking a male approached her from behind and attempted to pull her purse off of her shoulder. The female would not let go of the purse and a short struggle ensued. As this was happening an unknown person yelled from across the street. When the suspect heard this he let go of the purse and then fled the area on foot. The female was not injured during the incident and does not know who it was who yelled at the suspect. The suspect is described as white male, 17-22 years of age, slim build, wearing a plain gray hoodie, jeans and white sneakers. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact police at 490-5016.
